...different then their real names? For example: Kaka's real name is Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, or Ronaldinho whose real name is Ronaldo de Assís Moreira. Why not put their last names?

Many brazillians give nicknames or pet names to people they love.  Everyone loves their football players.  They give them nicknames.  Sometimes people will go by their mother's last name or their middle name.

Not sure, but think of the cost of a shirt from the club shop with those names on.£30 for the shirt and £20 for the name on the back (its charged by the letter, y' see).Wink

because almost everyone in brazil is named by a nickname usually like ronaldinho there is ricardinho marcelinho and all that and inho just means little so it would be little ronaldo.
